Ken and Leslie – Nominated by Daughter (Auburn, CA)
Just as we age so do our homes. Ken and Leslie’s flooring throughout their mobile home had become very worn, unsanitary and hard to maintain due to their mobility issues. Thanks to help from our donors, Silver Wishes was able to make their wish come true for new flooring throughout their home. You have created a safer place for Ken and Leslie to live, reducing a safety hazard they were facing on a daily basis. Thank you M-10 Builders for your beautiful work making their wish come true!
Karen – Nominated herself (Rocklin, CA)
Thank you for making Karen’s wish come true! A chair can make a huge difference especially for Karen as she has been struggling to get up from a sitting position due to her knee and back pain. Just getting up to let her dog out has been difficult but now she’ll be able to get up easier with her new power lift recliner chair.

As our volunteers were leaving, they heard Ted say to himself, “This is so great!” Thank you for giving Ted some joy and relief.
Candese – Nominated by Case Manager (Auburn, CA)
Candese is currently dealing with a lot of different stressors in her life. When discussing different coping mechanisms, she mentioned reading books, watching movies and listening to music used to be ways that would help her cope. Her wish wouldn’t be complete without air pods, a screen protector, case, and 12 months of Amazon Prime to access the books, movies and music.

Anonymous – Nominated by volunteer (Roseville, CA)
This senior had a wish for a new iPhone as his had not been working. Not having a phone was a problem when he was taken by ambulance to the ER, in addition to his trips to dialysis. Not having a way to communicate with his wife added additional stress for both of them. The day after Silver Wishes delivered his new iPhone to him, we received a text message that said he spent the evening streaming his church services as that was what he has missed the most.
Gail – Nominated herself (Roseville, CA)
This milestone wish was made possible thanks to Ray O. Cook Heating & Air. Thank you for your generosity to change Gail’s outlook on life by making her wish come true for heating and AC again. It has been 2 years since her heat pump has worked! When the community comes together like this, the wish is just as impactful to us as it is to the wish recipient.
Elizabeth – Nominated by granddaughter (Roseville, CA)
Elizabeth has lost the majority of her vision and just sees shadows now. Her wish was to make her living space safer. Her favorite place to sit is outside for fresh air and listening to the birds. But the space was too narrow, and her family was afraid she’d miss the edge of the concrete. This wish was a combined effort with help from our donors, M-10 Builders who installed the bathroom grab bars, and Duarte Home Improvements who enlarged the cement area. Little things can make a big difference, and Elizabeth was beyond grateful to have this wish come true.
Linda – Nominated herself (Roseville, CA)
Linda is starting all over by moving across country after losing everything in the recent Florida hurricane. After so much loss, she is still filled with joy but misses being around people and being involved in the community. Your support made Linda’s wish come true as she received a 1-year membership to the Roseville Sports complex where she can take classes, meet other seniors, and exercise. Since her car was ruined in the hurricane, we gave her (24) 10-ride passes so she can get to and from classes. And as a retired librarian, we helped her get set up with a library card and connected with the Friends of the Library so she can volunteer again like she did in Florida. Welcome to California Linda and enjoy your classes!
Cecilia – Nominated by neighbor (Rocklin, CA)
Cecilia’s neighbor nominated her for a new pair of slippers because that was all she would wear inside and outside. After talking with Cecilia to confirm if that would be her wish, she shared how she had a freak accident causing an artery in her ankle to bleed out. She really was wishing for her own carpet steam cleaner to get the blood off her floor and sanitize her apartment to avoid any infection. After more research we learned the apartment complex is working on replacing the carpet for her. Knowing Cecilia has many “wishes” on her list, we surprised her with a Walmart gift card to have her groceries delivered and an Amazon gift card to purchase a steam cleaner if she still wanted one. She said the first thing she was going to purchase was olive leaf extract to help with healing the wound. Wishing Cecilia a full recovery!
Kathryn – Nominated by Case Manager (Roseville, CA)
Silver Wishes was grateful for the opportunity to give back to a veteran who has served our country. Kathryn chooses to live in her car and had the wish to go to Redding to empty her storage unit (to eliminate a monthly bill) and to see dear friends. Her thank you text reminds us why Silver Wishes exists; “I was so surprised by Silver Wishes generous gifting of not only fulfilling some of my needs, but mostly for bringing me hope.”
Victorina – Nominated by daughter (Rocklin, CA)
Victorina loves to eat out but because finances are tight, she hasn’t been able to enjoy her favorite meal which is a steak dinner. Silver Wishes surprised her with a flower arrangement filled with gift cards to Bel Air, Safeway, Walmart and Outback Steakhouse. Joy is always best when you can share it with others, so now Victorina and two friends can make memories together enjoying a meal at Outback Steakhouse.
Pat – Nominated by friend (Rocklin, CA)
The best way to kick off the new year is with a wish reveal. Pat has severe neuropathy in both feet and surgery only made it worse. Getting around is so difficult that she hasn’t been able to join the family in their activities because she can’t walk, keep up or it’s too much work. This wish meant just as much to her daughter and they’re so excited about being able to do more together. Pat said the best way to describe today is, “FREEDOM.” Your support has given this new year a whole new outlook for Pat. Thank you!
Isabelle – Nominated herself (Rocklin, CA)

As we all know, a good night sleep gives your day a whole new perspective.

Marty is one of those people that loves to help others. Even while in pain you’ll find her volunteering at the local food bank. She has had 10 knee surgeries, back surgery and just celebrated being 1 year cancer free from pancreatic cancer surgery and treatments. Needless to say, she has spent a lot of time recovering in bed. A friend just gave her a couch, but she still needed a recliner chair. Thanks to your support and help from RC Willey, Marty now has a cozy and inviting living room to relax and have friends over to visit.
Wish Recipient Nominated himself (Roseville, CA)
While moving to a new apartment, our wish recipient had his clothes in black trash bags and unfortunately, they were accidently thrown in the dumpster. It was a magical moment revealing his wish of a shopping spree at Kohls and he was so grateful. The family asked that we keep the post anonymous, but we wanted to thank you for making another wish come true!
Sherry – Nominated herself (Lincoln, CA)
Did you know a wish for a couch can help overcome loneliness? It’s hard to invite people over if there isn’t anywhere for friends/family to sit. Silver Wishes was honored to reveal that they are headed to Safari West Park in Santa Rosa this month to make memories going on an adventure together once again.
Barbara – Nominated herself (Rocklin, CA)
Did you know Medicare will only cover 1 walking cane every 5 years? Barbara accidentally left her cane in the shopping cart, and it was gone when she went back for it. She called Silver Wishes with her wish for a new walking cane and when asked if that was what she wanted for her “one-time” wish, she said she could use a really lightweight vacuum too. Barbara was so excited to receive her wishes plus a gift card to Amazon and Walmart. A simple wish can be so sweet.
Julie – Nominated herself (Lincoln, CA)
Life has become very overwhelming and has snowballed to the point where she can’t make ends meet. Julie has been living without hot water for the last 12 months due to being out of propane and having a broken water heater. A local church filled up her propane tank and Silver Wishes was able to replace her water heater. Julie sounded like a new person today after she was able to take her first hot shower since last October. Together we can make a difference.
Patte – Nominated by daughter (Lincoln, CA)
Usually, it takes two volunteers to make a wish come true. Today it took an army of volunteers of all ages to fulfill Patte’s wish to add some color and freshen up her front yard. It was amazing how fast 15ppl could spread 7 yards of bark, trim trees, create a rock pathway, add drip and plant 18 plants in 95-degree heat. Patte moved to Lincoln 4 months ago and is facing several major health issues and her daughter thought a fresh front yard would bring some joy as Patte comes and goes to her medical appointments. It truly was a joy filled morning working together to make Patte’s wish come true and welcome her home to Lincoln.
Rosa – Nominated by her nurse (Rocklin, CA)
This was a fun wish reveal because we surprised Rosa at her tai chi class this morning. Rosa’s nurse nominated her for a wish for a new blood pressure monitor and oximeter, but Silver Wishes felt like we needed to personalize the wish a little more with gift cards to her favorite stores as Rosa loves to cook. Thank you to our volunteer, Ilda, Rosa was glowing and felt known and valued as the entire wish reveal was done in Spanish.

Heidi – Nominated by daughter (Roseville, CA)
Heidi’s favorite place to be is in her backyard, but she cannot access half of the yard because the flagstones are being pushed up by tree roots making them loose, uneven and a safety hazard. Duarte Home Improvements did a beautiful job pulling up all the flagstones, created a raised walkway making it even and safer for Heidi to use. Her joy is definitely contagious!
Barbara – Nominated herself (Roseville, CA)
Barbara loves to be in her yard, but it’s become overgrown and overwhelming to care for. Her wish was to freshen up the backyard and make easier to maintain. With the help of Duarte Home Improvements, Silver Wishes was able to tear out the weeds, lay down weed barrier, fix a brick pathway and freshen up with bark and small rock. Barbara sent us a message that said, “I keep walking back to the deck to see if it is real…and it is real and lovely.”
Bobbi – Nominated by friend (Lincoln, CA)
Bobbi has dear friends that have been helping maintain and fix up her home as much as they can on their own. However, the gutters are old and were never installed properly in the first place causing Bobbi’s garage to fill with water when it rains. This is just one of many obstacles weighing on Bobbi and Silver Wishes wanted to help lighten her load. Quality Sheet Metal Heating & Air graciously offered to donate the labor to make Bobbi’s wish come true and now she has one less thing to worry about during the rainy season.

Tiny is a very loving person who values connection. However, since moving to Roseville 6 years ago, she has felt socially isolated. And due to finances being very tight, she has refused to buy anything for herself except food and gas. Her family wanted to surprise her and remind her how much she is loved for her 75th birthday with a makeover. Silver Wishes made her “Queen for a Day” starting with 74 roses to commemorate her 74 years of life and representing the many lives she impacted as caregiver. Then she was treated to a haircut, manicure, pedicure, and a shopping spree. Thank you Laura Heilsberg at Sola Salon for helping make this wish come true.
Patti – Nominated by friend (Penryn, CA)
Patti’s deck was built over 20 years ago and had become a safety hazard due to dry rot. Someone’s leg broke through a portion of it, and it was a miracle Patti hadn’t been injured as she uses the deck on a daily basis. This wish is a great example of how great things can happen when a community comes together. This wish was made possible thanks to Lowes Home Improvement of Lincoln, Duarte Home Improvements and Lost But Not Forgotten. Patti is relieved that she doesn’t have to worry every time she steps on her new and improved deck.
Rickey – Nominated by son (Roseville, CA)

Safe travels Judy!

This may look like a really comfy chair to most of us. However, for Thomas this chair looks like an opportunity to keep his feet elevated which is a necessity because of his medical condition, an opportunity to get up on his own and a comfortable place for him to sleep. This piece of furniture brings a smile, comfort, a new outlook and a sense of feeling known and valued. Enjoy your new chair Thomas!

Happy 90th Birthday Dolores!

Be on the lookout this fall for her and her handmade aprons at the local craft fairs!
Wayne – Nominated by daughter (Roseville, CA)
Wayne had a stroke many years ago and adjusted to life with hemiparesis until he recently fractured his back making life a little more difficult. So, their daughter nominated them for a wish for a custom screen door with a built in doggie door so they wouldn’t have to get up and down so often to let out their grand-dog “Maddie.” They are thrilled that now they can bring in the fresh air while leaving the flies outside. Something as simple as a doggie door installed within a screen door can make a world of difference.

Now that masks are gone, Rosa’s wish was to get her smile back with a new set of lower dentures. Within seconds of seeing herself in the mirror, Rosa’s self-confidence skyrocketed. Thanks to Dr. Slate and Pure Dentistry, life has a brighter outlook for Rosa as she can smile without feeling self-conscious and enjoy eating pain free again.

We were able to lift those spirits and bring a little hope into their homes this Christmas season.
Barbara – Nominated by daughter (Lincoln, Ca)Barbara’s family kept their wish nomination for their mom a secret. They wanted to lift her spirits as the last couple of years have been filled with heartache and major health issues. Yesterday, we revealed her wish from under a silver dome a minute before her new power lift recliner’s delivery truck pulled into the driveway. To say Barbara was surprised and blown away is an understatement. Now she won’t be depending on anyone to help her get in and out of her chair and will be able to rest comfortably. We couldn’t leave without giving her slippers and blanket to match!
Doris – Nominated by daughter (Lincoln, Ca) Doris recently had a malignant lung tumor removed and has undergone chemotherapy. She is now house bound due to COVID and has limited lung capacity. Her first wish would be to play tennis again but that isn’t a reality right now. However, her other wish was for a bouquet of her all time favorite flowers, yellow roses. So we made that happen as well as a year’s subscription to tennis magazine so she can follow her favorite sport.

Pat said the best way to describe today is, “FREEDOM.” Your support has given this new year a whole new outlook for Pat. Thank you!

Wish Recipient Nominated himself (Roseville, CA)
While moving to a new apartment, our wish recipient had his clothes in black trash bags and unfortunately, they were accidently thrown in the dumpster. The family asked that we keep the post anonymous, but we wanted to thank you for making another wish come true!

Silver Wishes was honored to reveal that they are headed to Safari West Park in Santa Rosa this month to make memories going on an adventure together once again.

This wish is a great example of how great things can happen when a community comes together. Patti is relieved that she doesn’t have to worry every time she steps on her new and improved deck.

Rebecca desperately needed a chair to elevate her legs, but her chair was 15 years old and broken. With a very small space to work with, finding a chair that was affordable, comfortable and the right size was a big challenge that she wasn’t able to overcome on her own. Rebecca’s wish for a wall hugger chair fit the bill to a tee and she was beyond grateful.

Jill – Nominated by friend (Roseville, CA)
When life throws you a curve ball, life can become extremely overwhelming. Virgil was everything to Jill for the last 44 years and very unexpectedly passed away due to a blood clot that went from his heart to his brain. Without any family or resources, Jill felt like she was letting her husband down not knowing how to afford to put him to rest. Our deepest condolences Jill for your loss.

Judy & Phillip – Nominated by community member (Auburn, CA)
Judy and Phillip were nominated for a wish because they don’t have reliable transportation and couldn’t afford the repairs on their cars.
